Juli Yokoxkayotl Santoyo
Strength Coach
Bienvenidos, sweet beings– Juli here (they/them)! Having been born and raised amongst the sacred mountains and rivers of the Northern Andes I discovered early on that a type of movement that is rooted in building awareness within the body and its connection to the land can be deeply fortifying to a sense of belonging, joy, and dignity.
Movement has taken many shapes in my life: from river rock climbing and dance in my homeland to team sports in grade school to obstacle-race training and boxing in my 20’s to now my most recent chapter of training rooted in power lifting complemented by a yoga and meditation practice. The work of meeting myself over and over again through movement to feed a sustainable practice has required that I engage with the way dominant systems and structures perpetuate violence onto our bodies by dictating narratives about who is worthy of dignity and belonging in a gym or training space. For a mixed, queer, femme who grew up poor and has navigated various body sizes over my life, training has necessarily transformed over time into a vessel for my healing and body reclamation. This is the kind of training culture I am devoted to– one where we are supported in healing systemic wounds and internalized narratives that don’t serve our relationships to our sacred bodies while instead moving to cultivate ourselves as dignified, compassionate, powerful, and adaptable beings.
Alongside my training life, my path has involved serving community as a 10+ year educator & facilitator, healing justice artist, transformative justice practitioner, meditation and yoga instructor, certified Life, Leadership, and Executive Coach, and priestess-in-training in the Mexica Moondance tradition. Most recently I founded HEARTH studios as a practice home where personal training, healing, and community education coalesce. Whether in the gym or a community space, at HEARTH studios we believe that our bodies are living roadmaps to our healing and actualization and we collaborate to equip individuals and communities with the skills and ways of being necessary for the flourishing of aligned, pleasure-full, fulfilled lives.
I bring my passion and joy for movement and my commitment to intergenerational healing and honoring our lineages to Soft Space. Together we will co-create tender spaces where our individual and collective bodies can meet each other with acceptance and care just as we are, creating doorways where we can explore more coherent, rooted, powerful versions of ourselves.
